The Chinese logistics company New New Shipping Line is gearing up to enhance its partnership with Russia, particularly along railway routes. This was announced by the company’s CEO, Ke Jin, during the forum "Transport Corridors of Eurasia – New Horizons and Opportunities," held in Moscow on December 5.

"We are determined to strengthen our market presence by acting as a provider of comprehensive logistics solutions," he stated. New New Shipping Line plans to achieve this by combining three primary corridors between Asia and Europe: the route through the Suez Canal, the Far Eastern route (a blend of sea and rail), and the Northern Sea Route, all supported by the resources of Sino-European rail and road transport, as detailed by Ke Jian. He highlighted that the railway connection between Europe and the Far East, along with the Northern Sea Route, will serve as the backbone for trade over the next century.

Currently, New New Shipping Line is actively expanding its transportation services along the Northern Sea Route. In 2023, the company launched the regular container service "Arctic Express No. 1," connecting the ports of China (Shanghai, Ningbo) with Arkhangelsk. In its first year, the route facilitated 7 voyages, increasing to 13 in 2024, with an ambitious target of 25 voyages anticipated by November 2025.

Although the Northern Sea Route can currently be used only during a limited timeframe, the company's ultimate goal is to establish year-round navigation, as stated by the head of New New Shipping Line in an interview with Russia and China magazine in June 2025. To reach this objective, the company intends to build five Arctic container vessels of the Arc7 ice class, each capable of carrying 4,400 TEU. The construction will be undertaken by a joint venture between New New Shipping and the state corporation Rosatom, called the Northern Sea Route Shipping Line. he vessels are expected to be operational by 2028.
