«Integration» Eurasian Business Forum that gathered representatives of the federal authorities, businesses and Russian Railways' subsidiaries on one platform came to an end in Moscow. This year, the plenary session of the forum was held offline. One of the strategic partners of the event was UTLC ERA. Participants of the event discussed the issues of the development of transport corridors in the new conditions and shared their forecasts.

The leitmotif of the business program was to define  the critical directions of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) for the coming years.  Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board, noted in his speech that the development of international transport corridors should become one of such directions. In his opinion, representatives of the Eurasian Partnership and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should combine their efforts in this segment; to this end, the Board has already taken part in several joint consultations with the SCO.

Mikhail Myasnikovich also specified that the Board has examples of companies that have been successfully developing transport corridors between Asia and Europe. He singled out UTLC ERA, an integration project that has arranged more than 550 routes connecting China with European countries thanks to its services.  «There should be more solutions like the one offered by this company», Mikhail Myasnikovich believes.

At the end of 2021, UTLC ERA reached a record level of transportation in its services - 693,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). This year, despite the reduction in European shipments, the company has set itself an ambitious goal of maintaining the same volumes.

«We have agreed with the shareholders on the way cargo loading of empty containers, the reserve of which is formed in Europe: we bring them into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, load and send them by the same corridor back to China, thus partially compensating for the loss of European transit volumes,» says the head of UTLC ERA. In this context Alexei Grom emphasized that transit transportation remains a priority for the company.

«Volumes in the China-Europe-China corridor along our basic route are gradually recovering», says the head of UTLC ERA, «because everyone has already got used to the high quality of products, fast delivery times, competitive rates and the highest degree of cargo safety on the 1520 mm gauge».

Now UTLC ERA forecasts that by the end of this year, the traffic volume lag will be 1.8% of the record year 2021’s results. In 2023 the company expects to return to the planned indicators.
