At the end of May NIIAS JSC presented three innovative development projects for the railway industry at the 64th International Technical Fair (Serbia). The inventions are aimed at improving the train traffic safety control systems and optimizing the freight flows. Each of the projects was highly appreciated by the jury and awarded a gold medal.
Viktor Rakov, head of the NIIAS Center for Intellectual Property Management, told 1520international that the inventions were demonstrated at the joint stand of inventors and manufacturers of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Archimedes International Innovation Club.
The first project - a train movement controlling device - is aimed at reducing the number of failures in the operation of the locomotive safety device. The second invention of the institute - a station and section modeling program - allows solving tasks related to the optimization of station and section operations as well as assessment of sufficiency of resources and infrastructure to perform technological processes in a given configuration of the incoming car flow.
Another NIIAS development presented in Serbia was an interval train traffic control system.
“The invention is aimed at improving the safety and reliability level of train interval control technologies, - says Igor Panferov, head of NIIAS’ division for the development of systems of train traffic interval control via radio channel. - The system enables a hybrid approach to the principles of traffic control organization. The joint use of the traditional control system and a digital radio channel subsystem allow an uninterrupted transportation process in case of failure of traditional control systems”.
The system has already successfully passed its pilot operation stage and confirmed the possibility of organizing the movement of electric trains in the 3-minute schedule on the Cherkizovo - Lefortovo - Andronovka section of the Moscow Central Ring. This year it is planned to expand the range of its implementation, and its full completion is scheduled for 2023.
At the invitation of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, NIIAS also held a presentation of its developments for the Technical School students of the University of Belgrade.
According to Victor Rakov, participation in such events is necessary in order to maintain the position of the railway industry’s leading institute in the field of information technologies and to move forward confidently.
"Such events help establish new business contacts, exchange practical experience, organize sustainable and long-term cooperation with partners, including international ones, and introduce advanced technologies and innovations into mass production," he concluded.
