On June 11, 2024, the reconstruction of the Hangai crossing loop on JSC UBZD's Central Corridor was successfully completed. Railway workers have added a third track, extending 1,640 meters in length, to accommodate trains longer than 100 conventional railcars for receiving and departing trains.

During the reconstruction process, the length of the existing second track was extended to 1,632 meters, incorporating 4 new switches and the installation of advanced signaling equipment All in all, this will enhance both the capacity and load-bearing capability of the Hangai crossing.

It should be noted that previously, trains could only pass through the crossing loop on two tracks.

This upgrade marks a pivotal advancement in the infrastructure of the Russia–Mongolia–China railway corridor, with plans set to improve capacity until 2030. The implementation is projected to elevate the carrying capacity of the Ulaanbaatar Railway to 50.6 million tons annually.
